    ASTM A516 GR70 Boiler Plate

A516 is a carbon steel plate grade utilized primarily in welded pressure vessels for moderate to lower temperature service. This material is produced in grades 55, 60, 65 and 70. This material is also offered in the normalized condition where improved notch toughness is required.

Boiler and pressure vessel steel plate: professional pressure vessel steel plate used for the manufacture of the main equipment and parts of pressure vessels. The vast majority of pressure vessels are made of welded steel plates. In the manufacturing process, the pressure vessel steel plate must be subjected to hot and cold processing and welding, so the pressure vessel steel plate is required to have good technological performance, as well as a certain strength and enough toughness, so that under normal working conditions under the external load without brittle failure.
The boiler plate mainly refers to the hot rolled medium thick plate materials used for manufacturing superheater, main steam pipe and heating surface of boiler room. The main materials are high quality structural steel and low alloy heat-resistant steel. The commonly used boiler steel is low carbon dead steel smelted by open hearth furnace or low carbon steel smelted by electric furnace, and the carbon content of Wc is within 0.16%-0.26%. As the boiler steel plate is working under high pressure at medium temperature (below 350 C), in addition to bearing higher pressure, it is also subject to impact, fatigue load, water and gas corrosion. The performance requirements for boiler steel are mainly good welding and cold bending performance, certain high temperature strength, alkali corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, etc..

On the basis of carbon steel, low alloy steel and alloy steel were developed for pressure vessel steel. The low carbon content of steel, generally no more than 0.20%, makes the pressure vessel steel have low carbon equivalent (Ceq) and low welding sensitivity coefficient (Pam) to ensure the welding performance of the steel. In addition, the use conditions of pressure vessels are harsh, most containers contain inflammable and explosive gases, and have a certain pressure, prone to explosion accidents. Therefore, pressure vessel steel is required to have better toughness. In order to ensure the safety of vessels, three types of pressure vessels are generally made of low alloy steel or stainless steel. Aluminium killed steel and nickel - containing steel are used in the manufacture of pressure vessels. Currently 0.5Ni is being used instead of 2.5Ni; Replace 3.5Ni with 1.5Ni; Replace 1Crl8Ni9Ti with 9Ni. China 1984 ~ 19
